The aim of the Year of Marine Culture was to promote the history of marine culture in Estonia and to highlight the traditions connected to the sea. By combining different cultural fields, this thematic year served as an umbrella for all activities and events related to marine culture, including concerts, conferences, discussions, festivals, competitions and workshops. The central element of the visuals, a sizable collection of traditionally styled illustrations, served as a poignant allegory in expressing the rich diversity of marine heritage.
